In 1960 Jaguar purchased the Daimler Motor Company. Daimler had a superb 2.5litre V8 engine and Jaguar wondered what to do with it. They decided to fit the engine into the Jaguar Mark 2 bodyshell to produce the Daimler 2.5-litre V8 (from 1967 the name changed to Daimler V8-250). Apart from the engine the only real changes versus the Jaguar Mark 2 were the fluted radiator top and the rear light housing. Internally the Daimlers used better quality wood and seating and aimed more at the professional than the sporting buyer. Since then Daimlers were always positioned at a higher level of luxury than the Jaguar equivalent.

This particular car is fantastically original and in "time-warp" condition. It has driven just 27000 miles (c43k km) since new. Just 4897 of these models were built and it is also unusual as manual version.

The car joined the collection in 2012.
